Shares retreated on Thursday morning after large-cap stocks lost momentum as investors locked in profits made in the previous three-day rise.
The market’s fall during early trading was attributed to the decline in large-cap stocks caused by profit-taking, as these stocks had risen and pushed up both stock indexes in the last three sessions. The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange lost 0.6 per cent to close at 679.34 points, while the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange was down 0.4 per cent to end at 81.1 points.
